Chia seeds, a Superfood
Chia seeds come from a beautiful flowering plant, Salvia hispanica L. They are a superfood containing antioxidants, fiber, protein, omega-3, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. You can start incorporating chia seeds in your diet in a few simple ways. By themselves, they are not full of flavor. Add a tablespoon to your almond or other milk alternative and let it sit for a few minutes before consuming. It is important to let them absorb liquid to unlock the power of chia seeds.
